  1. Well man.. from what I've read from NEWTEK lately... the pentium
  2. LW version is suppose to run like this:

  4. a P90 system verses an Amiga 4000 '040 is suppose to run about
  5. 8 to 10 times faster than the Amiga... BUT... I know that it probably
  6. won't
  7. have any of that live play back stuff that the LW on an AMiga toaster lets
  8. you do.
  9.     I visited an Art School's open house.  They had all these supposedly
  10. awesome
  11. guys with anims going... the people were oooing and aweing... 
  12. (It was choppy as *ell) I reaised my hand and asked "excuse me, but how
  13. many frames per second are you running at?"
  14.    The guy stuttered, frowned and said "Uh.. well.. we are playing it in
  15. REAL TIME
  16. .. so you can't really count the frames per second... we can dump them to 
  17. video tape frame by frame and get 30 frames per second..."
  18.     They were using AutoDesk 3.0 for windows, I think. I said, "Well,
  19. looks like
  20. you're running at about.. oh.. 12 frames per second.." he agreed,
  21. reluctanly.
  22. I then asked "well.. do you have any Toasters here?  They could do it in
  23. REAL
  24. time at about 30 frames per second for several seconds..."
  25.    They told me afterwards that the Amigas rendered much slower than their
  26. Macs and IBM's.  I asked them what Amiga's they owned.  They were running
  27. OLD Amiga 2500's with only 7 or megs of ram and I believe only a 68020 at
  28. that...no wonder... duh...

  31. please let me know if you hear anything more about the Pentium Lightwave
  32. stuff.. NewTek promises that it will Shake, rattle and roll on a P90, I
  33. bought
  34. me a P100 and am waiting... oh well...
